The first ever Asian Youth Theatre Festival sees youths from across Asia coming together to connect through theatre on the theme of cultural identity. Participants from Singapore, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines will converge at *SCAPE, sharing their art forms, cultivating dialogue and challenging perspectives.
Through a series of performances, workshops, symposiums, and multiple fringe events showcasing local and regional artists, the festival facilitates the personal understanding of cultural identity, and how it relates to the bigger picture of national identity and belonging.
With exposure to art forms from different cultures, youths will have the opportunity to share their own perspectives and hopes for a better world and inclusive future. As a platform for cultural exchange, the festival can encourage greater mutual understanding, empathy and appreciation and more importantly, respect for each other’s societies.
